well, 204 sounds a hell of alot better than 2700. of course this thing requires a glove which I think kinda sucks but it's the beginning of an amazing alternative I think. watch people start mass producing kits that include glove/wiimote/monitor and software and sell them for a small profit. I could see that popping up on ebay no doubt.Mesmer wrote:Glove: $12 (bargain bin)

wouldn't this be just as easy:

Trouble: non multi touch but easier than the above fingerling and not much more expensiveWorks with finger, gloved hand, or pen stylus

possibly true, the only reason I never tried a touch screen overlay is cause it seemed like it would be a pain to use an upright touch screen after a while. something like those tablet pc's that can laydown thier screen would be a much better way to go but then again way too expensive.
I don't like the glove at all, but I'm keen to see what comes of this kind of thinking.

I think I would prefer something along this lines instead:

One should be able to draw one's own interface though...
and here's the hotlink img:
I have started to work on an abstraction with 0.5% of bringin something like that to the massess .... I've fallen for the hope-notism spell I guess.
cheers,

The guy who came up with this Wii Tracking stuff did some incredible projects : http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/
that's what tablet pc's are for. I love mine for just using as a flat control surface, and it really didn't cost that much more than a regular laptop, and way less than a speed-comparable mbp did, for sure.Johnisfaster wrote:a laptop screen is still upright. I would much prefer being able to lay something down flat next to my monome would be awesome but will probably be a long time coming.
Besides, there are plenty of those small 7" touchscreens out there, they interface just fine with a laptop, and can really add a lot of cool to a rig.

I can't afford a tablet pc right now though, and I could never figure out what kind of touch monitor would work for me and lay on it's back well as it's hard to know without actually looking at each model.Machinate wrote:that's what tablet pc's are for.
