i'm confused, is there some auto map features to the mpd32?, you said the faders are set up for the live mixer , what happens when you click on a softsynth does it reset for that or???

how exactly do you do your thang with it?

It's not Automap like the Remote SL series. All I'm talking about are presets. Most controllers have presets. The TriggerFinger has presets as well. The default preset for the Mpd is Ableton Live. That's preset #1. Preset #2 is Reason. When you load a vst, the MPD won't switch anything on it's own.

Wow I just got a MPD 32 about a week ago. I decided to give the Live Lite a try and now I'm here looking for tips and tricks to get rolling with Live. I have to say the MPD 32 is way better than the previous two versions. Works for the most part right out the box. No LCD glitches, or software glitches. Transport controls work just fine. It also set up with M-Audio's Torq software right away and I was able to map all the knobs and sliders no problem. This is a way more solid midi controller than the Trigger Finger or the MPD 24. Both of which I tried and did not keep. The MPD 32 is a keeper.

Mine arrived today :D

Can anyone help get the note-repeat function to sync with live? I've set the tempo setting to 'external' in the 'global' settings menu and turned on all the midi inputs and outputs in Live's preferences but it seems to play back at a totally different tempo.

Any ideas?

I've been using the 32 for a couple of weeks, and am finishing up a short tour using it to do live looping and triggering whole trax. It has been a flawless performer for me, though the software editor did crash a couple of times. As has been mentioned already though, it's just as easy to program it from the unit itself, so I do that and then mainly use the software editor to save my settings.

I'll be posting a video soon demonstrating how I use it live.
peace,

You said you turned on the midi inputs and outputs, but in that same window did you turn on the sync out to the mpd?

It is, imo. You get a lot more control and flexibility with the 32. You can basically make it 3 different controllers with the control banks, which is real cool.

The Mpd comes with 30 presets. When you connnect your MPD to your computer, it's default preset is Ableton Live.

I would definitely say the MPD 32 is worth the money.
