I believe that there is a small gap inherent in the mp3 format, so you will need to save your entire set as one long audio file to make sure everyone hears it right.Jonny B wrote:Hi guys how are ya all?

I've read (don't remember where but a sure source, pro audio website like Sound On Sound or Computer Music) that the MP3 compression included in i-Tunes was not that good and that LAME was far the better encoder actually available.
I use LAME since months and never had any problem.
There is lot of 'skins/GUI' for LAME that help you to use it in a graphical environement.
If you're looking for qualitative encoding, go for LAME, if it's just for archiving i-Tunes is easy to use as hell.
Hope this help.

I use these command line options...robbmasters wrote:Command line version of LAME works for me. Dunno about those gaps though...
lame -h -ms -b 160 --nogapout "mp3s" --nogap --lowpass 19.5 *.wav
So that will encode a series of wav files into a subfolder called mp3s. You can probably get away without the --nogapout "mp3s" but I find it handy to separate out my wavs from mp3s (I use this as part of a bigger ripping script.)
It's not a perfect method, but for me resulted in no gaps on some playback devices - remember that sometimes it's the playback device that adds the gap, not the encoder.
