well, i jumped the cue. this thing is rediculously fun.
me and a freind sat down and jammed with it and FL for an hour or so.
its pretty nifty. it sucks that you cant edit on it, but the sounds on it are actually pretty decent.
its totally a gimmick, but definatly a good compact way of releasing your creativity.
i've definatly found a home for it, it my dad stops playing with it..

I nearly bought one on the strength of this video alone.

If you have got a Palm you could try Bhajis loops:

Just got the demo, seems pretty good.

i'm really enjoying using it going to be in my next show. for a 1st generation product its about 85% there and ii can't decide if i would want a version as big as a kp3 yet. it could use more than 8 beats of looping (although you can hack it for 16) and for all the scale choices it is strange that it doesn't have a harmonic minor scale.
you definitely need to have great ears to play it and to me the bottom line is that anything you have to 'practice' is not a toy.
here is a link to a trailer of my latest project using the kaossillator. i'm playing live with my guitarist using ableton with fcb1010 to control the background loops (its the last loop, so its hard to tell).

I haven't used this new gadget yet, but I have the KP3 and it's almost Impossible to get some nice effects recorded into live off of it. It's strictly a live tool.
To record it into Live I had to send an audio track out to the interface, which the KP3 was hooked up to. Then record the effects onto a separate audio track. Then combine these two tracks so I had my original track with the new effects on it. If I wanted the effect on each track I had to do them one at a time. And with the finger pad it's obviously almost impossible to make them all the same.
Too much work for some average to good effects
