Mixing Between Live and Turntable or CDJ

So what would be the best way to set this up? I am thinking run live into one channel of a dj mixer and then the turntable, cdj or whatever through the other channel? What are you doing? Are there any tricks to seting this up right?

Live Output to 1-4 Channels of the Mixer, FX Send to Live + Return back to the mixer (pioneer 600/800).

Mixing: Mapping the two adjustment buttons to hardware plus the tempo to a knob.
