Waldorf Blofeld

Post by furrybum » Tue May 06, 2008 9:28 am

I've been looking at getting myself one of these after hearing the audio demos on the waldorf website. Has anybody here used one?

I've got an old Novartion Nova that only gets light use. Thinking about selling it to help pay for the blofeld.

ahh,

Strange considering the good reviews I've read. I know it was meant to be buggy as hell to start with but the system's been updated and the bugs seem to have been ironed out.

i hope so
the main critics i have heard were:

- preset sounds not so good
- buggy OS

but the possibilities of the "machine" seem good to me

another possibility in this direction would be the access virus snow, just much more expensive...

Presets are there to be changed anyway. The whole point of this synth seems to be getting deep with your routings.

The OS seems to be sorted

Kind of bored with my nova after all these years. Maybe I will upgrade

All I've heard from users of the Blofeld is that while it has some good sounds, the product as a whole feels largely unfinished due to the bugs and lack of integration via USB.

I guess I don't understand why a USB port is even on the Blofeld if it can't be used as a VST similar to how my Snow works.

I also was a little hesitant to purchase from the new Waldorf. It's taken them three years to release this synth and I'm not sure it's even available anywhere outside of Europe yet.

Too bad. When this was first announced, I was sold. Three years later well not so much. Access announced the Snow and within four months it was out.

100% regret free purchase.

USB midi. There are also 3rd party editors for it.

Also, the bugs seem to have been fixed.

Yeah, I knew it was for Midi over USB but that's hardly good use of three years developing time.

Great. I'm glad the bugs are ironed out. Now if you can actually find a Blofeld please let me know.

Cool. I'm glad they are available in the UK. I would have loved to have been able to hear one up against the Snow.

Hopefully, Waldorf taps into the full potential of having a USB interface opn the back of the Blofeld. Being to integrate the Blofeld with Live similar to Virus TI Control would be really nice.

Enjoy and post some audio examples!
