This article got me thinking a bit... I tend to sit about 135', but I like to be up right when working on stuff hardcore. It seems a kneeling chair would do the trick (especially one with a back)

Another option I thought of was building a low lying desk setup (something that sits about 20" off the floor) and find a chair the allows me to sit at 135' while being able to stretch my legs underneath it... I actually have a chair that lets me do this but it probably wouldn't be good for extended periods of time.
But the kneeling chair would probably be easier to move around than a lazy lounger type setup I'd assume. Hrmph.

Yeah a high up desk setup with a stool for sitting if you don't want to stand might be a good option...BongoBennie wrote:wow, you got me thinkin, I sit at a console every night for hours, 6 days a week, sometimes, i think i should be standing or something, Its hard to come home and sit at a computer to work on music
Unfortunately my setup is where I do everything!
Work, Play, and music... (Don't watch tv either) So I spend a lot of time in front of a screen.
Found a good thread with some helpful information...

I designed my workstation to be at standing height, and use one of these:

You can sit on it, lean against it, or a combination of the two. I use the same workstation in the studio and live, and much prefer working at standing height.

I bought a cheap chair last year and it really hurt my back so I decided to get a kneeling chair. It was really good to begin with, took all the pressure of my back but after an hour of sitting on it i found myself sitting in obscure positions on the chair because of my body being bored kneeling. Within a week of having it, it did my head in so I took it back and got a much comfier office swivel chair which is just right for me.
The kneeling chairs are good but can be annoying after time, but if you do decide to get one make sure you buy a decent one with a very thick pad where your knees go cause they can hurt a lot after a while.

I hate kneeling chairs, I had one for about a year or so, the problem with them is they do not support your back at all, so you cant really relax in them, which if you're working for long hours can be hard work.

that's kind of the point though; instead of letting the user slouch in less-than-optimal positions you're constantly poised, which strengthens your back automatically. - it also forces you to take breaks.RhythmSickness wrote:the problem with them is they do not support your back at all, so you cant really relax in them, which if you're working for long hours can be hard work.
- and yes, I hate them too for the exact same reason! gah.

Yeah but if you're after a chair for production, you are going to be sat there for hours. So in my mind you want to be supported. I have moved on to a recliner, that I have modded to put castors on. The kneel chair was ok, but a pain to use and eventually it broke. YMMV indeedMachinate wrote:that's kind of the point though; instead of letting the user slouch in less-than-optimal positions you're constantly poised, which strengthens your back automatically. - it also forces you to take breaks.RhythmSickness wrote:the problem with them is they do not support your back at all, so you cant really relax in them, which if you're working for long hours can be hard work.
