I beta tested the pre-release of version 1 as well. From the first time I opened the program, it felt so much more natural than any experience I'd had with Cubase VST or Acid *cringes* up to that point.
I was so stoked about session view that I did everything I could to spend as much time there as possible for the first year or so, printing multitracks only at the last possible moment. Come to think of it, I still do that.

I'm trying to remember how I originally heard about Live. It was likely the Monolake connection. I must have read an interview with Henke or Behles where something was mentioned about the program's pending release.

Same here, except I don't think I upgraded instantly. Also got Reason Adapted and a few more software in the bundle. It was my experience with Cakewalk however, that whetted my appetite. The GUI in Live seems quite similar Cakewalk if I remember correctly.

Looks suspiciously like something built in Max!
It wasn't.
I thought the prototype was? that screenshot was 0.1a2 - probably a prototype

Oh Wow, thanks for posting that screenshot! so cool!
My good friend showed me this program when it was on V.3 - it had just been updated to version 3. Oh the music that we made!

Nah, it's a myth. I'd dig up Robert's post about it but I can't be fucked.

I got into it via 'Steinberg Remix' which got top marks in a Computer Music review. This was essentially Live 1 but crippled in many ways (track counts etc), but it only cost £25. Once hooked I forked out for Live 1.5 and have been throwing money at it ever since.
