Waldorf PPG Wave 2V

Post by Smellhound » Wed Jun 25, 2008 12:04 am

I have never been able to get this to work consistently in Ableton. Haven't tried it recently in any other hosts so not sure if it's a compatibility problem or just a plug problem. What happens is that it reverts back to the default patch that is loaded when started...and does it often (but seemingly at random).

Anyone else experienced this? It's such a great sounding plug so I'd hate to not be able to use it. If anyone knows of some good alternatives to it please let me know. Thanks

does anyone else even use this? I have never been able to find a synth that has presets as unique as this one.

I got an LE version with my nio2|4 interface.

I didn't have any problems but I didn't use it much.

If you're using an intel mac, the older version is not intel mac friendly. Other than that, i'm not sure what your problem is? Mine works fine. Did you get the latest version update off the Waldorf site?

The AU version tends to crash my Live after running for a while, especially when I try to switch banks. Also, the graphics sometimes stop responding. Haven't seen any problems with the VST (also OSX) one though, but I haven't really used it that much.

i'm using the VST on a PC. it never has made Live crash, it just has a hard time changing presets and remember which preset it's on

does anyone know where one could find presets similar to this for other wavetable soft synths? (Massive for example?)

hmmm now i've got a craving. i like the ppg sound from the demos ... but if this this is unstable in live, maybe i'm not ready to buy something like that. kind of curious now, where this thread goes ... anyone else with bad experiences? ... any other serious wavetable plug-ins out there? (with a distinctively 80's sound??!?!?!)

EXACTLY! no other synths can create the cheesiness of the PPG ...yet it has some really dark patches too.

seems like there are a lot of stability issues with it...piss

I used it for a while, and it really does have a wonderful and unique sound, but the buginess/quirkiness drove me insane so I sold it.
