I believe that ableton does not offer dual screen support, althouhg I think it would still be possible to have the VST on your second display.

Just connect up your second screen and drag your VST GUIs to the second screen.

Done.

I am not too knowledgeable about the connecting up of monitors. If my video card has a normal screen connector and a DVI out, can I connect two monitors and will they show as one large extended screen or two separate screens?

I have the same set-up and you can configure it any way you want. One large extended view or two separate desktops.

part of my wishlist for version 8 is having the arrangement view on one monitor & session view in the second monitor. not sure if this has been said one million times or not.
