Good Cable manufacturer?

What is a good brand of cable?

I need to connect the unbalanced outputs of Apogee Duet to Balanced xlr input of ADAM p11a.

ADAM advise me to use good quality cable rather than the cheapest i can find.

I don't need much length (cue chukkles) so price should be no problem.
Suggestions?

All manufacturers will recommend you use the most premium expensive cables you can possibly find.

Tone Deft will recommend you cut the power cable off your vacuum cleaner and use that. I trust Tone Deft.

I like ProCo, I find them to be the best bang for the buck. Mogami and Monster are good, but too expensive IMO. I'd stay away from Hosa, never had good luck with them lasting long, or honoring their replacement warrenty without a HUGE hassle.

Take one look at the quality of the soldering in most cables and you'll never want to buy one again.

Good quality connectors and good soldering are the main things you are looking for.

Why use good quality cable? Although more expensive, Canare StarQuad cable provides greater rejection of electromagnetic noise. The design is effective in reducing induced noise from dimmer packs, fluorescent light ballasts, and AC transformers by as much as 30dB over standard mic cables.

In the last six months I bought a soldering iron, but have yet to buy solder, bulk cable, connector parts, and a basic electronics how-to book. Until all that happens, I'll buy Canare or Mogami when a need arises.

sommer cable is very good if you are attaching your own ends! Or buy Beldon by the spool also excellent, we make all our XLR from that, and it gets absolutly battered and never have any problems with it, unless something cuts through it of course!
If you want something premium, then go for something like Van damme cable. VDC make whatever you want to order, and I the bench monkeys do a fantastic job of it!

this cable fetish thing is weird to me. you do know that all your favorite records were made with what would now be considered junk, unworthy of comparison to the great mogami or monster? (also odd that, in an age of overcompression and mp3s, people nonetheless purport to obsess over "sound quality" no one's going to notice.)

My favorite combo is Mogami or Canari cable with Neutrik connectors.
