the new forum look - problems

Post by os » Wed Jul 10, 2002 7:01 am

I have two problems with the new forum:

- there is no longer any indication of which threads have received new posts since your last visit (used to be a solid/hollow icon to the left of the thread title)

- the text in posts no longer wraps to the screen width (so you have to use the horizontal scroll bar to read long lines)

The indication is still there, the icons just look different now.

I have no such problem, the text wraps properly, and I never get a horizontal scroll bar in any situation.

What browser are you using?

slow

Hi,

I got the feel of the forum (server) to be very slow, it takes ages for pages to load. Anyone else experiencing this slowness problem?

Stefan...

I was using iCab under OS X. I'm using Mozilla now under win2k (at work), and the icons do indeed appear to be different. So either iCab has a problem with them, or more likely I just didn't notice them - they're not so different as they were.

If you go here:

you'll get horizontal scroll bars, in iCab, Mozilla, Internet Explorer...

cheers,
os.

long word

MIDI terrorrist1 posted one long word containing "MIDI,MIDI,MIDI,"
In this case every browser will show a scroll bar, it will not break the word into more lines.

That's because one of the messages in that thread contained one very long line that couldn't be rewrapped because it didn't contain any spaces. I inserted some spaces there, and it displays fine now.

iCab isn't a decent browser when it comes to displaying with a lot elements wich are belonging to the consortium recommended standard...
