a lot of countries not just having different voltage / hertz
but the plug shape respectively the plug pin(s) shape is different, too
the US, english, japanese and european and some other power plugs differ in their actuall physical shape / size.

Apple do a travel pack that would sort it for you, gives you every adaptor you'd ever need:

Its not cheap though, I could pick up a UK to US adaptor for £2.

2 ProTips™ for you:
-- As others have said, a lot of your gear will have a switch to use 220-240V mains, so you can switch it. When you get home, remember to switch it BACK!
-- Bring extension cables with you for all this stuff, so you can convert one extension cable to use the euro plug and plug all the other gear into the extension cord.
