Bass Players - fun basslines?

Post by Tone Deft » Fri Aug 29, 2008 4:28 pm

anyone know of any fun, simple basslines to play on bass? I'm not talking technical stuff that'll take me a few weeks to learn, if ever, just the simple, fun stuff.

many thanks!

debu - you lurking? I remember one time to jumped into a great riff, sounded like every disco song ever made.

- higher ground, stevie wonder covered by red hot chili peppers
(good slap practice)

-Haitian fight song, Charles Mingus.
the main beginning riff is sweet and simple and the rest of the song
will inspire you :) (i hope)

learn the 12 bar blues - (you'll get sick of it but alot of jams end up their and alot of songs are based on it)

edit

lol wtf i just noticed it was you tone

you play guitar right?

I play Alice in Chain's Would? at least 2 hours a day. My neighbors say it's some heavy shit.

:?:

some cool suggestions, thanks!

one I like to play is 'Ted Just Admit It' by Jane's Addiction, creepy rolling bassline. of course 'Longview' that's like the 'Stairway' of bass.

yeah, bought a bass last year, it's not the same as guitar but it's a good start. I love how bass is really about the space between (in my n00b opinion.)

I've seen a few versions of Higher Ground, fun song, theres one 16th note I can't quite get right, a hammer on right before a slap, hard to explain. I have the Chili Peppers bass tab book, pretty good.

edit - and all of Rage Against The Machine's eponymous album.

I usually warm up with Green Day - Longview. It's a blast and it sounds really cool when you nail it. :D

Might be to simple for you, but its kind of fun. Lots of room to funk it or what ever. Just loop it a few times and them improvise on your E string.

Added keyboard note names.
