Although the graph of Total Borrowings of Depository Institutions from the Federal Reserve, which shows similar behavior, has this note at the bottom :

"Please note breaks in data: Data prior to 2003-01-01 include adjustment, extended, and seasonal credit. Data from 2003-01-01 to 2007-11-01 include primary, secondary, and seasonal credit. Data from 2007-12-01 to 2008-02-01 include primary, secondary, seasonal, and term auction credit. Data from 2008-03-01 forward include primary, secondary, seasonal credit, primary dealer credit facility, other credit extensions, and term auction credit. "

Don't know if this would explain it or not...

nebulae wrote:^ I don't really get what you're saying.
you give me an opportunity to expound like a douche.

That humans have an inalienable right to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is not just a nice idea, it is reality. Everyone in the USA is 'signed on' to that reality. You cannot not be. [**important asterisks]

Extending that, everyone absolutely having those rights means that Party "A" can't pursue happines, life or liberty at the expense of Party "B's" pursuit of happiness, life or liberty.

So, there is a more 'ministerial' extension of all of that in that some activities have been identified as leading to unhappines, and other things even though those other things are perhaps happy making in a transient way, they are all off limits. These limits are "the law" as most people experience it.

Furthermore these rights exist *in the absence of a government*, because they are more important than government (government being the mechanism by which these rights are ensured-- the raison d'etre for the government is to ensure those rights).

So to fully reinforce the reality, you need guns.

fuck that.

you need guns, lmfao. paranoid American bullshit.

in Alaska, they have big animals that want to eat you. in suburban shitsville you do not need a gun.

isn't Viagra cheaper? penis pump? whatever it takes. go get a nice shiny huge new SUV, they new ones get an environmentally friendly 20 mpg highway!!

you need a gun, that's retarded, seriously, little yellow school bus, wearing a helmet, drooling on yourself, coloring outside the lines, shirt tucked into the underwear r-e-t-a-r-d-e-d.

what happens when people have guns, they get shot, or killed or kill someone. again, look at every other country, their lack of guns and lack of serial killers and homicide rates.

I'm not joking around, I think we're really teetering on the brink of entering FUBARland in the US within the next few months. Lock and load.

Ahgk! *cough* Damn it sir! *chough* dammit sir and well struck....

[edit] but really, i believe that the concept that the founding fathers had regarding rights devolves from what they saw as the 'all around self-contained man', a concept that european civilization had largely suppressed by requiring people be specialized and subordinate to a hierarchy, but which was in clear evidence in the people of North American native culture.

What I *am* suggesting is that it is much easier to marginalize, blow off, lie to, belittle, ignore an unarmed person than an armed person.

And I'm saying what you're saying: 'because you can right now' and may not be able to later, and that it will send a very strong message if gun sales start going up.
Honestly, abortion and gun control are both smokescreens IMO. No democrat since I've been alive has done more than pass cursory laws aimed at gun control, same holds true with republicans and abortion. Americans like guns and abortion, it's not going to change because the minority gets a person in there that agrees with them.
The real issues to me are right to privacy and free speech (WTF? how did 'freedom zones' for protesters just slip in there??), decent foreign policy, and basically practicing what we preach.

Neither party wins that one. In fact the democrats have been notoriously just as rabid as the republicans when it comes to censorship.... insert whinning obese soccer mom here! "THINK OF THE CHILDRENS!!"

this is the bit I'm most amazed isn't completely consuming the discussion

I saw a bit of that GOP thing and he actually moves like his body is starting to pack it in

Anyone voting for McCain needs to accept there's a high chance it's actually Palin they're voting for

Imagine her as president? shit....4 more of Bush indeed

Palin clips on youtube are being taken down, like this one:

her in a church talking about everything from a natural gas pipeline to the Iraq war being part of god's will.
