I just peeled a sticker off a box. The box is cardboard, but with a smooth painted finish. It feels smoother than normal cardboard, maybe cause of the paint, or some gloss that's been added to the paint.

Anyhow... I just took off a sticker off the box, and I want to remove some of the glue that was left on the box, where the sticker was...

I really don't want to damage the box, but I want to get rid of the glue, and leave the same kind of smooth feeling (that is all over the rest of box) where the stickyness is...

Got any ideas?

And I want to add, that when I first started, I started with my finger nails, then I jumped to a razor... The razor did a great job, and I wouldn't have this problem had I used the blade from the get go.

Use the sticker you removed to collect the glue by repeatedly dabbing at it with gluey side.

I use this stuff - http://www.finishlineusa.com/products/degreaser.htm - all the time for cleaning up stuff. Dunno if it'll work on your cardboard though - might be worth trying if all else fails...

I tried the dabbing, and that worked a bit, pretty good actually, but not as well as this eraser is working... I maybe let the glue dry too much.

If all else fails, try a Natural Citrus Based cleaner.

We have one called 'De-Solv-it.'

Boidegradable and Non Toxic.

'GooGone' is my go-to cleaning solution for removing leftover adhesive. You can use it on any surface, but for cardboard, I'd use it sparingly. Pretty sure you can get that stuff at most stores.

Paint thinner works on 99% of the sticker and tape glue out there, dab it on the area with a rag and wait a bit before removing, obviously don't use too much or you'll ruin the cardboard, but if it's got a coat of plastic on it, you're safe.
