which version of rockband?

I went to go buy rockband yesterday and was utterly overwhelmed by the choices available for it. Anyone have any suggestions which might be the best option? Which version and which controller?

PS3, defo. Although I would save your cash and wait until November for GH4; a much, much better bet IYAM.

Get a cheap GH3, Metallica's new album as a D/L, and you'll be laughing (and screaming at the TV through the solos) until November!
