Is Live fully compatible with Quad cores (PC)
Is Live fully compatible with Quad cores (PC)
Hi,
Did not really find an answer for this.
Live supports multicore but does this mean I
will benefit from using a Quadcore (a Q6600 or so) instead of a
Core 2 Duo (E8500) processor ?
Thanks,
Kupfer.

I have had recent troubles with Q6600 and Asus P5Q Pro mother board. At this point in the trouble shooting process, this combination and an NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT video card and Live don't mix well. My problem was duplicated with other users and an 8400 series NVIDIA card, both with Live 6 and Live 7. The problems are isolated to Live, and not repeatable in other DAWS. Others have had very good success, I have not.

since you guys are on the quadcore topic, here is a question ... I notice on my Q6600 that live utilizes the various threads very well, and it runs up to 100% CPU usage on each core (OK, I have to really, really, really push it in order to get it to max out).
So far so good ... very happy.
However, when it comes to rendering, Live only uses a maximum of 25% of each core. Anyone know why this is???
OK for live it is not an issue at all ... typically songs or short movie projects render in a few minutes anyway.
However, I have the same issue with Adobe premier. During real time processing, it utilizes the maximum CPU power available from each core, but during a render, it only uses about 25% of my capacity. With premier it is an issue when it is taking 1 hour plus to render a large project.
Anyone notice this issue during rendering with live? I'm just curious if it is only me?
