Now forming: Washington DC live users’ group

Goal: meet live users, compare tips, ideas, give demos, and organize informal gigs. In order to form a DC electronic music movement. Develop a DC electronic music scene with Live and VST freeware addons. For all upcoming and semi-pro musicians and software composers plus computer-music folks with basic expertise in Live.

We will find a reliable spot for meetings every 2 weeks on weekends or or maybe weeknights where we would have the whole room /club and could play at realistic volume.

We need dedicated, active participants of all ages, with laptop, Ableton licensed lite or full versions. Our goal- provide a PA system and meeting location off hours in a central area of N.W DC (Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park, etc).

i would deffinitely be down for this!

My girlfriend does a writers workshop with alumni from her grad program and she says its great because it holds her to other people's expectations to finish up something so that it is ready for an audience in draft form. I have wanted to get involved in something like this for writing tunes or just sharing patches or something where you can't duck out at the last minute because it's face to face and not just on a forum. I dunno how this fits in really but yeah . . .

I'd certainly be interested in something like this, although realistically I might only be able to participate on a monthly basis as I'd be coming up from Fredericksburg. Any progress? I'll fwd my e-mail on tonight.

Would someone be allowed to observe? I'm completely new to Ableton and music making, but I'd love to just see how it's all done.
