IOU is delighted to invite you to Volatile Light at Dean Clough from Saturday 24 March, Monday to Saturday, between 10am and 5pm. Volatile Light is a new mechanical sound and light installation created by IOU.

In IOU Studio, from floor to ceiling, an array of specially made machines fill the darkened space. Attached to the rotating arms, levers and cranks, pinpoints of coloured light describe eccentric curves, sweeping arcs and hectic scribbles.
In the adjoining ‘Cube’ space, experience an intimate all-enveloping combination of light and sound and be at the centre of a miniature wrap-around universe of moving lights. Utilising an innovative combination of computer software, the lights are transformed into a complex mixture of overlapping light trails and patterns - fused with an ever-changing arrangement of vivid sounds.
Created by IOU in collaboration with artist Liz Dees, composer Dan Morrison and sculptors Jim Bond and Andy Plant. Originally commissioned by Junction Goole.

The installation is usually open from 10am – 5pm Monday to Saturday. Visitors are advised to ring in advance as there are occasions when the installation will not be accessible to the public.
