Mbazzy Live & reviews - Update 19/04/2006

Post by Mbazzy » Sun Mar 12, 2006 10:11 am

2006 has been interesting so far for Mbazzy.

The debut release "The dysfunctional playground, ..." was reviewed in Debug (D) and Kwadratuur (B) and we heard through the grapevines that at least another 2 reviews are in the making ... Check our website for links & translations.

We had to cancel our workshop and gig at STFU Weimar end may, but Mbazzy will be playing live on June 2nd at the next "Kunstnier" event in the former Acec powerstation in Gent .

The sonic installation "Womb@" was put on the backburner through an unfortunate series of personal events . We'll pick it up second half of this year .

In the mean tie we're working on new material for release later this year! We also may do a limited 3' release of last years Liesbeth contest life performance.

Keep you posted!

Little update :

"RifRaf" reviews the "Dysfunctional Playground"
Belgian magazine RifRaf (http://www.rifraf.be) , that's distributed throughout Belgium for free to Youth houses, libraries, recordshops, ... reviewed Mbazzy's first release . No on-line copy , but transcript+translation should follow shortly ....
You may not find much coherence in these 17 tracks, but honestly,
is YOUR life coherent?" Neen !!

and the translation reads as :

17 nice electronic collages of treated fieldrecordings and gameboy backdrops from Dieter Legein. Mbazzy rattles frm all sides and nothing more can be xpected from a "Dysfunctional Playground". Homegrown home-garden and kitchensink electronica provides for over anhour of cosy soundblobs. No fixed form, no easily digestable beats, no n-th clone of B.O.C. and that's really fine when B.O.C doesn't manage that themselves!. Mbazzy brings me back to the old Nintendo at home, and though we have nothing to complain about Mario Bro's soundrack, Mbazzy completes it perfectly. We can't condense it better than this little pearl out of the bio : "You may not find much coherence in these 17 tracks, but honestly,
is YOUR life coherent?"

NO!
