Tomorrow night!

_____________________________________________________
Greetings all sentient lovers of a/v crossbreeding,

Outpost #8 is upon us this Wednesday the 25th of March at 8:30 p.m. at Horse Bazaar, 397 Little Lonsdale St.

Featured artists for this month are all booked and we are very excited. David Chesworth (known for his early work with seminal post-punk experimental group Essendon Airport and the ground breaking 1978 recording 50 Synthesizer Greats) is coming on down to perform one of his new laptop/music concrete sets.

We also have Anthony Pateras and Robin Fox doing one of their heavy duty vocal and noise sets - trying out new material before they head to Europe.

mmm Outpost stylee internationalé... believe it!
What you won't believe is that you get all this artcore shiznit for nix/nada/nothing.. seriously.

The jams will of course be on with one or two improvising games thrown in (as per Outpost #7) to spice things up a bit! Full audio podcasts and some video excerpts from Outpost #7 are up on the site now so check them out.

So, as always,
Bring your gear and have no fear!

Cheers
your friends, the folks from Outpost

next week.... spread the word!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outpost #9 is just around the corner (being next Wednesday the 30th of May) and do we have a treasure trove of audio/video delights for your perusal...
Three (count them) feature slots this month.. awesome.

Jean Poole from Plug and Play has been VJing and doing AV performances up and down the East coast since the 20th century. His set is going to be an AV medley of current projects and previous works ( featuring giant squids, skateboarding monkeys and invader species ) all cut-up & processed live. Check out his blog here.

The glitchy goodness of Similar will also be performing. You can find his tunes and hairy hands here.

Hold a spot on your dancecard for interstater Robert Curgenven. Working with harmonics, textures and resonance as articulated not only through instruments/objects, in space and place, but also in time and the dislocation of the remote, Robert's sound explores slowly shifting layers in the fabric of what surrounds us.

As always, audio and video jammers are most welcome so, Bring your gear and have no fear..
Look forward to seeing you all this Wednesday @ the Horse.

cheers
the Outpost collective

Hi-Ho art lovers,
Here it is, the lineup for Outpost #12 on at 8:30p.m. Wednesday the 29th of August at Horse Bazaar.

We are very excited to have a feature slot from from the wonderful Qua (a.k.a Cornel Wilczek), who started performing live in 2001 after an invite to perform with Pretty Boy Crossover.
Qua's music is an unrepentantly gorgeous and nostalgic mix of sunlit electronics and guitars, buoyed by complex arrangements. Referentially, Cornel cites his influences as bringing to mind the playfulness of Mouse on Mars, the sophistication of Ennio Morricone and the warm lush pops of Architecture in Helsinki.

Selector, double bassist, V8 Holden Premier driver and all round good guy DJ Tomtom (a.k.a Thomas W. Butt) is also featuring this month. Experimenting with decks and and effects over beats fresh from the House Of Butt, Outpost #12 will no doubt provide Tomtom with an opportunity push the envelope beyond the dirty dance-floor antics he does so well into the realm of the bizarre.

Now, here is the word on OUTPOST at M.I.F.A.
As part of the 2007 Melbourne International Arts Festival, we will be hosting a week of OUTPOST events at the ArtsHouse Meat Market in North Melbourne. Each night after the featured festival act on the main stage, OUTPOST will be jamming away at Becks Bar until close. This will be a great event for everyone that has contributed to OUTPOST to be a part of. However, if you want to come down and jam you will have to let as know as we need to organize the events so that we spread the fun around over a week of events. We also are hoping to make each night responsive to the vibe of the main act, so we’d also like to put those of you who want to join in on this special event into the best possible situation for your contribution. So, to join in on this event please e-mail us and we will make sure you get a spot.

OUTPOST @ M.I.F.A.
18 - 26 October, 2007
Meat Market
Blackwood Street
North Melbourne
Time: TBC (approx. 10pm - Midnight)

As always, new players/projectors are most welcome so tell your friends and..
Bring your gear and have no fear!

See you Wednesday..

Looks like you Melbourne cats have some really cool stuff going on. Our live act is coming down to play at Smashbang @ Lounge on the 5th of October so we are hoping to get out and check some local music too. We've got our VJ with us too, so thats a lot of gear, many abletons and lots of photons. Looks like you have it nailed, but then again its Melbourne... such events in Brisbane dont have the same volume of peeps alas.

Hey Folks,
Well the launch of Digital Fringe is upon us next Wednesday the 26th of September at Horse Bazaar and as Outpost is running as part of this great event we will be running from 7pm sharp. Get there early for your monthly dose of laptop audio visual shennanigans and our superb feature artists for the month M.R?r performing with Simon Hampson (Symbiosis, 3RRR).

M.R?r is a sound artist from rural Western Australia. Being based in secluded isolation has allowed R? to pursue an organic take on electronic music, using acoustic instruments and field recordings as the sound source in the majority of his works. Yet R?r is still firmly entrenched in the technological age, his work as an industrial designer allows the influence of architecture, physics and modernism to creep into his sound world. M.R?r has released records on room40, Apestaartje, 12x50 and Meupe, alongside various compilation releases on Australian and International labels.

Simon Hampson has been a dj live and on radio for many years, previously producing the show 'Symbiosis' on Melbourne's Triple R. His own work draws on field recordings, piano, guitar and generated digital tonalities amongst other things.

Matt & Simon will be playing an improvised set focusing on more digital textures than their last collaboration at Liquid Architecture 8.

This is our last event before our season at the Meat Market for the Melbourne International Festival so jammers, get down early and crank it up!

As always, new players/projectors are most welcome so tell your friends and..
Bring your gear and have no fear!

See you Wednesday..

Hey Folks,
After a break following the fantastic season for MIAF, Outpost #14 is on this Wednesday the 28th of November at Horse Bazaar from around 8ish.

Feature Artists for Outpost #14
Alistair Riddell and Ross Bencina a.k.a. Past Lovers are coming down to hack into your portable bluetooth devices, so bring them down..

Past Lovers invite the audience to participate in an audibleinfo-plebiscite. A pack of info-mediators will roam Horse Bazaar seeking out voluntary and involuntary interactions with audience bluetooth devices as a source of sonic inspiration, providing a basis for improvised sound processing that goes way beyond the 'dudes behind laptops' paradigm.

The Jams are on and so if you played or perved at the Melbourne Festival gigs come on down and get your impromptu laptop art on.
As always, new players/projectors are most welcome so tell your friends and..
Bring your gear and have no fear!

See you Wednesday..
