Kansas City Users
I would be interested in hearing from Live users in the KC area. If you would be interested in getting a Live user's group going in KC, let me know.

During production, I run Live as a ReWire client to Samplitude 9 Pro or Sonar 6 PE. Once Live allows MIDI Out from VSTi, it may gain a larger role in my setup.
However during writing, Live is my 'whiteboard', if I want to sketch an idea out, Live's interface makes it easy to do so.
I used to use Cubase, but Yamaberg and I have different core values. So, I am putting my Steinberg gear on ebay.

Hello. Another "Live" user here. I had given up on the local thread a long time ago. Hard to find anyone that's not only on the "ProTools" band wagon around K.C.. I started using "Live" at ver. 2 and have never looked back. Because of all of the television and video project work that I do I have had to learn "ProTools" and "Audition", but in my studio doing song writing and arrangement projects I find "Live" to facilitate my needs more so than the other programs.
Anyway, hello, it's nice to meet you.

hi all - longtime lurker on the boards, i've never checked out the local thread though, i just figured there wasn't going to be one for kc. glad i was wrong!
i am a fairly new to live, been using it for about a year or so, and just upgraded to 7 a few weeks ago. outside of a few weeks of an adobe audition demo, live is my first real production platform, and although i've been told protools protools protools (repeat with logic for all the mac folks), i'm more than impressed by what i can do with ableton, and foresee it being a key component of my set-up for a long time. i was originally drawn to live because of the dj'ing aspect of it, and with a little research and learning, i've been able to really branch out beyond that facet, which is great.
my wife and i are in the process of setting up a small home studio centered around a 2.4ghz p4, a delta 1010lt, and a korg kontrol49, with a couple of guitars, a bass, turntables/dj mixer, and a stereo receiver and home audio speakers for monitors.
right now we are shopping mics, monitors, and headphones, with room for a mixer if we can find the right deal.
neither of us know much if anything about the technical aspects of playing music - in fact, i just changed my first set of guitar strings a few weeks ago - but we are having a blast finally making music instead of just consuming it.
we have some stuff up at virb.com/benmighty if you are interested in checking it out.
i'm really glad this thread exists - we are always up for discussion of techniques and processes as well as collaborations.

Hello mate:
Protools is what it is, if you ever hit it big, then you may have to maintain a protools rig for compatibility; otherwise, go with what works for you. I use Sonar, Samplitude, and Reaper as my primary DAW with Live and an assortment of other applications running as ReWire clients.
Anyhow, if you need any help getting your setup going, give me a holler.
