Baba Israel and his production partners Yako (openthoughtmusic.com) and Core Rhythm (Spitmatix.com) will offer a presentation--with a performance!--on using Ableton Live for hip-hop production, live performance and scoring theater.

Baba Israel and Yako

This dynamic duo brings together two artists with a range of skills that combine to produce quality music and an exciting, high-energy show. Baba Israel is an emcee, beatboxer and hip-hop didgeridoo player known for his freestyle ability, powerful lyrics and booming beatbox beats. He has joined forces with Yako, a multi-instrumentalist, graffiti artist and beatboxer who plays the bass, triggers beats, cuts, and beatboxes with the best of them. Together they have toured the states playing colleges and clubs as well as internationally at the Big Day Out tour in Australia with Afrika Bambaata, Aesop Rock and Mr. Lif, and at the Low Lands festival in Holland.

Baba Israel has used Live to score music for hip-hop theater works by Rha Goddess and Renita Martin and in his solo show, Boom Bap Meditations. Yako is the musician for Playback NYC and also scored Contact Theater’s production Blog in Manchester, England.

The Core Rhythm

The Core Rhythm has performed in numerous venues such as Southpaw, The Knitting Factory, The Bowery Poetry Club, Rothko, Sine-e and numerous others, and is quickly becoming a mainstay in the New York independent hip-hop scene. He has performed on the same bill with underground legends such as Wordsworth, Breez Evahflowin and L.I.F.E. Long and has recorded with artists such as the legendary Grandmixer DXT. Core is quickly garnering respect among fans and peers. With the release of his debut LP, Nat Turner Reloaded, and his collaborations with fellow indie hip-hop peers Baba Israel, Noe B, 3rd Party, D Spliff and numerous others, Core is beginning to place his stamp on hip-hop culture.
