External synth plays back wrong ocatave

Post by Submersible » Sun Jun 21, 2009 5:06 pm

I've got a weird problem I can't figure out. I'm using Live 8 on Leopard. The external synth is a Dave Smith mopho, and the keyboard controller is an Axiom 25.

With a MIDI track record-enabled and audio routed to a new track, everything sounds fine. When I create a 4 bar clip and record to it, the Mopho jumps two octaves on playback. It seems to do this whenever the transport is running. When I stop playback and use the keyboard, the keyboard plays back at the correct octave. I don't think it's a Mopho setting, because it doesn't do this in other applications.

Weird, huh?

octaves are somewhat arbitrary, sounds like you have some devices that use different standards.

That makes sense, but why would that cause the synth to play one note when the transport is stopped, and the same note in a different octave when the transport is running?
