Edirol UA-25

Live 8.0.4 can't see my drivers, so I'm using ASIO4ALL presently. Live 7 was okay with them. Anybody else having trouble with the UA 25 ?

Hi objectman.

No problem here. I've been using my UA-25 yesterday with a newly installed 8.0.4, but I don't know your system specs. Mine: Core 2 Duo notebook, running WinXP SP3.

I suppose that when you say that Live does not see your drivers, you mean that Ableton does not see the ASIO drivers for the UA. I've never experienced any problem with my UA whatsoever.

Just in case you forgot: is the mode switch correctly set to advanced at the back of the unit?

i have the same issue
i use an edirol-ua25ex
i have to reinstall asio2.0-driver every week or more
whats wrong?,there must be something that loses the driver
(ps i noticed that when you install abltn,a digidesign-asio driver is also installed.but there is no digidesign-device in my system.is this a conflict?)
advanced-driver=on(edirol ua25ex)

Set the back switch to advanced, but still have to use ASIO as the main driver.

When you say ASIO, I suppose you're referring to ASIO4ALL, under the Ableton ASIO drivers category. Does the UA-25 driver appear listed?
Even if the UA-25 is not connected, and even if you have advanced mode set to off, the ASIO UA-25 driver must be listed under the ASIO drivers category in Live. Otherwise that means that you have a problem with your UA-25 driver installation. Check the UA-25 manual. I never had a problem with my unit drivers.

Also, please remember that if you change the mode to advanced once the unit is connected, you have to do a USB disconnect - connect cycle on the UA-25.

I'm thinking that maybe my setup is too different from yours to compare, as I have another ASIO driver installed on my system for my RME card. But I know another guy with the UA-25 as main card without problems (no other soundcard apart from onboard one).

Sorry Afin, no idea. Also, I've never seen that other Digidesign ASIO driver installed by default by Ableton (and I've installed Ableton many many times!)

When you loose the driver, is the Edirol still on the control panel?

yes the control panel still works
but the asio2.0 driver disappeared from the driver list in ableton.
(im not using asio4all,but the genuine asio2driver for ua25ex)
i have to say ,that this is real annoying,
but when i re-install the ua25ex driver everything is ok

Afin, I'm just curious. Did you notice if the period it takes the driver to disappear is constant? Always 1 week? Exactly 1 week? Maybe it's a Windows thing (updates?)... Have you tried on a different computer?

The EX and my original unit seem very similar, but they're not the same [I bet they're using the same digital back end => driver code should be very similar if not equal]. Have you tried getting in contact with Roland (Edirol)?

Do you have other software which can use ASIO? Is the driver still listed on that other software? If not, I can recommend you to try for example with the Reaper demo or foobar2000 (which has an ASIO backend). I doubt it is an Ableton problem, and checking with other problem would almost rule Ableton out. If the other program does not list also the driver, it's very improbable to be an Ableton problem. If the test results in the contrary, I would immediately contact Ableton support.

im certainly not saying that this is a fault from A/L
i was responding to the previous post,about losing drivers
i think its a windows-issue with my certain configuration..

btw,i did contact edirol about this,their solution would be:
disconnect usb-cable
change advanced-driver position to OFF
then change it back to ON
reconnect usb-cable
that didn't help
