5. Does Ableton recommend upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6?
If your main concern is stability, we don't recommend upgrading to 10.6 until compatibility for Live and all of your third-party software and hardware products has been assured by the responsible companies.
6. What can I do if I encounter problems with Mac OS X 10.6?
If you plan to try Mac OS X 10.6 to see how it works for you and encounter any problems with Live, we are happy to get bug reports!
To report issues, just follow the usual support request guide:

try option click on live.app in finder and and klick info, in the info pane select the "open with rozetta" checkbox.

I'm running on Snow Leopard too and haven't yet experienced any issues. Could it be some 3rd party plugin causing the crashes?

Re: Snow Leopard problems already...
Its not third party plugins causing the problem, I'm getting a lot of crashes on Live 7 without any third party stuff. The only solution in the short - term is a downgrade...
I thought this only happened to Windows peeps

I'm having the same problem. Live 7 crashes consistently when using clips with alot of warp markers and on the "complex" setting. This basically dashes any hopes of using Live 7 with Snow Leopard during a live set. Any solutions out there yet? Is Ableton aware of the issues when upgrading?
Also, is there any way to downgrade? Would using time machine revert the OS back as well?

Even if you are not using certain plugs, they can crash you. You need to move the plugins out of your plugin folder one at a time to find a potential problem.
Beyond that, I upgraded to 10.6 today and so far so good. I was waiting for Apogee's new Ensemble software and now that that's out everything is working. The only thing I ran into is I had to reinstall Waldorf attack that I use for a click. I'll post an update if I run into anything.

I am having massive issues with Live 7 in Snow Leopard. App is now pretty much unusable, I can load a set and listen, any edits will result in major crash. Damn my OS upgrade haste.

The Complex mode is based on zPlane's "Elastique Efficient" algorithm (http://www.zplane.de). zPlane has already released a fix for it. There will most likely be a final update for Live 7 which includes this fix.
Live 8 is not affected, because it uses v2.1 of Elastique Efficient which works fine in SL.
