Live 8.0.5, os x 10.5.8

When consolidating an audio file with adjusted clip gain, the new file has a different clip gain setting than the previous file and it clips when opened in another audio editor.
shouldn´t the consolidated file have all values set to zero/default?

I consider this a bug. please help!

allright, what can I do with this?

I have a vocal track that I cut together from a few takes, max. peak is around -10dB. I consolidate the track to export it to another software, the new file has a clip gain of -3.55 dB. When I open it in the other editor, it clips.

what gives?

I can reproduce this, and it is strange behaviour but it seems deliberate (as in "feature not bug").
It seems that when consolidating, Ableton notes the max peak of all the files, normalizes, consolidates, and then removes gain so it peaks where it did before.
Try setting the gain after consolidation to 0 (from -13 or whatever it was) and you'll see that it peaks at 0, which is reflected in the new file. I think it's to avoid the quality loss that can occur when an audio file doesn't use all 24 bits available to it, and therefore required for it to be a neutral operation.

I see what you mean. this behaviour felt like it was put there with a purpose, I just couldn´t see why. now I understand;

strangely this is not in the manual.

so what would be your advise if I want to export a mono audio track to a new file?
the render command makes stereo, unless "convert to mono" is checked. is this a good way or do I lose something with this?
