Logic Instruments Rewired To Live.

Post by enomusic » Mon Sep 28, 2009 2:03 pm

Question, I would like to use some of Logic's Instruments & Plug-Ins rewired in Live.. Has anyone done this? I mean Logic 9 has phenomenal Amp Modeling Plug ins for Bass & Guitars.. & Ultra Beat Kicks ass....
I have been a Logic user since version 7 but started using Live 8 Suite about 5 months ago & I absolutely love the work flow in Live.. I just want to be able to use the Instruments in Logic.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

logic will only work as rewire master.

so your idea will not work..

you could rewire abelton instruments into Logic, but not vice-versa

WOW!!!! 8O That really sucks!!!! I mean you would expect more flexibility from "The mother of all DAW's".. anyways.. I was reading some posts here in the forum and I found a post that said: "You could use Logic's sound in Live as long as you have Sampler" Any idea how this works? Thanks for your quick response though.. even though it was not what I wanted to hear :x

If you've got a multi in-out sound card, you can actually do some clever routing to make it work. (especially with digital ins and outs)

Do a search om these boards for 'Mainstage'.

Im pretty sure someone else has explained how to get it to work in another thread about using mainstage to route logics instruments and fx in live.

good luck!

buy "SAMPLER" From Abelton

it is like "SIMPLER" but better.

then you can convert your Logic EXS instruments to use with Abelton "SAMPLER"

Awesome article 8O ... thanks for sharing it!! This is great for midi.. but still I want to be able to use not only the instruments but also the plug ins for example Space Designer, Logic's Compressor (It's really nice!), and the Bass & Guitar Amps in Logic among others.. which apparently can be done but not on the article.

Thanks again

Hey Rogue, thanks for sharing.. I actually own Ableton Suite 8 which includes Sampler.. any idea how to get Logic's ESX instruments to work with Sampler in Live? Do you know if only ESX instruments work with Sampler or can I use for instance Logic's Guitar Amp Pro?

Thanks again.

in the same blog under "articles" you'll find more about dealing with audio among the two apps. I have live 6 which doesn't support external instruments and i just found out :( so i can't try the tip in the blog.

My main issue right now is finding a sound to start with, having sound sets & effects organised without the need for tons of plugins. Logic has this done well with it's built in instruments and effect chains which are good quality, you don't need to pick an instrument first and then navigate to the preset, just pick a sound that you have in mind with the texture and other characteristics you want or close to that and work from there.
