Complex vs Complex PRO mode
Complex vs Complex PRO mode
Hi there. Is there any (noticeable) difference in sound quality using warp mode complex vs complex PRO.
I use Ableton for DJ ing so I warp full songs. Thanx.

Pro mode gives you additional 'Envelope' control, which is used to tell Live which part of the signal is more important. Ie the start of the transient, or the tail.
Depending on source material and transient control, it can be heard..

well, if it's pro it will surely work better, isn't it? :O
for djing, as long as you don't push the tempo too far from the original, you could also try the beat mode..

Id say stick to repitch. It keeps the quality 100% and with vinyl we got away with this for many years.
Beats mode i would not use personally, it always leaves these artifacts, like a touch of ring modulation...

Even if you play the track at its original bpm in beats mode. You may think its not doing anything or much to your file. Then you switch to Complex/Pro mode...and it's like a revelation.
From recorded vinyl, I wouldn't use Pitched mode. Since every segment will have slightly different lengths, live will pitch them slightly differently. One minute a mix will be all keyed up properly, then the next it will sound a bit worse etc.
My only gripe with Complex/Pro is that they are not sample accurate at warping.

I pretty much always use Complex Pro for DJing, much better than Complex at letting you keep the transients in bass heavy material IMO.

Re: Complex vs Complex PRO mode (I'm pulling my hair out!!)
I have the strangest thing going on with Complex Pro mode:
Two Audio Tracks.
Track 1 has a conga loop
Track 2 has 808 bass hit that sustains for a little over two beats.
I change track 1 to "Complex Pro" and as soon as the sample plays, the 808 hit has a pop/crackle sound.
reminds me of the "jitter bleed from the old SCSI cd writers.
I change it to pro or beats or replace the loop with something else and I don't have this problem.
If that's not strange enough... I "mute" track 1 and still get the pop so I HAVE NO IDEA how to even address this issue.
Any help is seriously appreciated!
