Moving an audio file to match the grid

Post by ozinga » Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:46 am

Hi
I am trying to move a song on the grid so the downbeats matches the file. Downbeat of the song shows as bar 1 beat 3.I want to move it to bar 2
How to do this without warping the file?
Thanks

Hi Ozinga,

simply move the start marker of the clip to the downbeat, the clip does not need to be warped to do so.

Hi Jorg
Thanks for the reply.
Moving the start point does not help. Maybe I couldnt explain what I try to achive so i took a picture. The link below.
As you see the first warp marker thinks thats the downbeat of the song.but its a fill and the real downbeat is on 1.2.
I simply want to move the whole waveform so what is on 1.2 ends up on 1.
It is easy to do on arrange view. But couldnt figure it out on clip view.
Regards
Ozinga

Hi Ozinga,

if I understand you correctly there are 2 options:

1. right-click (CTRL-click) the transient marker on 1.2 and choose "set 1.1.1. here" from the context menu, or
2. move the start marker (the little triangle) to 1.2

Same topic, similar question,
How do I move the start marker to BEFORE the clip? or delay the launch of a clip or similar...

IE. pretend I want the START of the audio file to be beat 1.2 instead of beat 1.1?

It doesn't seem possible to move the play marker before the clip, is it possible to delay the launch of the clip or something to overcome this problem?

Cheers jok - that first reply helped me with half of the issue - just wondering on the opposite direction ;-)
