Re: Live 8.1.4 is released
Yay to 200MB installers! Are ableton_suite_814_program_only.dmg and ableton_live_814_program_only.dmg the same other than by filename?

Re: Live 8.1.4 is released
Hi,
Downloaded and installed the program only, but once again it automatically installs the Analog, Collision, Electric and Tension packs even though I don't own any of these instruments. Can this be streamlined please, so that it checks for what I own before installing...?
Cheers...

Re: Live 8.1.4 is released
Do you see them on Instruments panel? ... I formatted my MBP and reinstalled everything from scratch, when Live authorization finished it told me that I had installed Sampler, Operator and other instruments.. which makes me WTF it's Live not Suite!.. but when I go to Instruments panel they're not there of course... so I assume that there's something wrong on authorization messages...8O wrote:Hi,

Just wondering:
Has the Library changed since 8.1.3?
Cause if not i could download the 200mb installer only, right?

If you have a version older than 8.1.3, please use the "with content" option instead, so you can get updated Library content.
Re: Live 8.1.4 is released
Nope - they're not in the instruments panel. But I own Sampler and Operator and those update fine. This automatic install of the suite instruments has been happening for ages now - lots of old threads about it...Migra wrote:Do you see them on Instruments panel? ... It's just a minor inconvenience, the superfluous installation takes a few seconds and then going into Live's preferences, selecting and uninstalling those instruments also just takes some seconds, but it would just be nicer if the installer checked before installing...

Re: Live 8.1.4 is released
I've just downloaded the Ableton 8.1.4 program only, and installed it on my macbook.
Now in my Apps, I have
Live 8.1.3 OS X - 931mb
Live 8.1.4 OS X - 409mb
Can I delete the 8.1.3? I'm unsure because its another 500mb in size. What is this discrepancy?
* Edit *
It appears to be the Live 8.1.3 OS X/App-Resources/DefaultPackages folder. Should I just copy the new Live over the old live?

Re: Live 8.1.4 is released
Hi, they are separate installations (it's just the library that's shared - that's installed in a different location). So you can delete the 8.1.3 app in your applications folder if you like. *But* I recommend that you don't delete it immediately - wait until you're happy that 8.1.4 is working fine for you, or at least no worse than 8.1.3... If there are unexpected issues for you with 8.1.4, you'll always be able to go back to 8.1.3...ikarys wrote:I've just downloaded the Ableton 8.1.4 program only, and installed it on my macbook.

Live 8.1.4 will work just fine if you delete the 8.1.3 installation. The only thing is, as 8.1.4 doesn't contain all of the content, if you later have to re-install or repair the Library, you'll have to re-download the big package (with content).
When trying to re-install or repair the Library with the "program only" version, it looks for an older installation (in your case 8.1.3) for the content.
Hope this is clear enough.
Kind regards,
