system crashes on Live 8.1.3. and 8.1.4. - please help!

Post by NicolasES » Tue Aug 03, 2010 9:03 am

Anytime that I try to import a clip or analyze a song file (even MP3s!), Live crashes or just freezes.

I cannot work my live set or my dj set and I'm wondering when Live is going to crash in the middle of a set.

Please help!

I just downloaded the new beta version (8.1.5b2) but have serious doubts. Any suggestions for a quick fix?

Thanks,

Nico

I'm having the exact same problem yet I have found virtually no answers after scouring the internet. I'm running AL 8.1.3 on a MBP 17" 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of ram. My interface is a Focusrite Saffire Pro IO 10. I notice when I force quit that the CoreMIDIServer is "not responding". I've also heard this might be related to Digidesign's MIDI Core servers? I'm in desperate need to get back up and running as I'm in the middle of theater project with opening night approaching in 48 hours.

thanks in advance,

Peter

Exactly, I have the same problem, especially with the MIDI core...

I downloaded the new 8.1.5 beta version, and it's a bit better, but it still blocks up when analyzing clips or songs.

Same problem here.. Just started yesterday.. Short audio files like drum samples or 1 bar loops seem to import fine but longer files stall the system when importing or previewing from browser.. What gives? 8.1.3 and 8.1.4 on MBP 15" 2.33 Core 2 Duo..

same issue here on 8.1.4. I have sent a bug report but still have no news

Ableton team : Isn't it possible to have a detailed changelog instead of the "various other stability improvements" ?
We can not know a particular issue is fixed in the new version or not... If the matter is to keep a changelog readable there could be a link on the "various other stability improvements" that could give the details. Don't you this this could help? Thanks in advance.

i just had this too - no idea why i've not had it before since i haven't been upgrading to newer versions.

i used my mp3 program to turn my mp3s into wavs and then put them into the ableton that way which worked. still annoying though.

i don't know about the midicore thing, but one thing to check is whether you have the most up to date version of quicktime installed, live uses it in the background to convert mp3 to wav. also check to see that you have enough free space on your hard drive and in your decoding cache for wav versions of all the mp3s in your set.
