I'm about to get a new i7 MBP to replace my ageing first generation core duo machine and i want the transition to be as smooth as possible. I want this machine to have a completely clean installation and reinstall my main apps again (FCP, CS5, Reaktor, LIVE!). What's the best way to copy all of my live data (live libraries, licenses, clips, plugins etc) from the old machine to the new. I'll make a carbon copy of my old drive and have it on an external (before i sell it), but want to put everything in the right place on the new machine so LIVE (and all projects) JUST WORK when i boot it up.
Any tips/hints?

Re: moving to new machine - copying across library etc
Hi, this should be easy to do. You might want to go with a fresh install of Live, particularly if you're running an older version - the current version of Live 8 is Live 8.2.1, which you can download here: http://www.ableton.com/latest-versions. If you haven't updated since prior to Live 8.2, then make sure you download the "with sounds" version of Live.
As to the Library, you'll want to find where Live is locating its library on your new machine - this will happen automatically when you install Live. You can see this folder path under Preferences->Library; this is also where you can go to create a custom path for the Library. Once you've found that location, you can just copy over the files from your old machine.
