live + kontakt + multi channels + midi groups???

Hi,
If I'm running my own samples I can run everything through 1 kontakt using the external instrument technique,
however if im using a sample pack it assigns the midi channel as [A]3 + Groups...
it's whenever this happens I cant send midi as i normally would,
I have probably phrased this really badly, any help much appreciated!
