How to properly tap tempo in 12/8?

Hi folks,
I have a song that is in 12/8. I want to tap the tempo, but when I do, the tempo is way to slow. Ableton doesn't seem to properly know how to tap at 12/8 (three groups of eighth notes, and I tap each triplet group)

Is there a setting I need to apply to make that happen?

You should tap each triplet I think.

Actually, you have to tap in quarter notes, regardless of what you put as a time signature. Also, the BPM of a 12/8 in Live don't mark eighth notes or dotted quarter notes as it is usually done, but also simple quarter notes.

Why this wasn't done properly when first introducing time signature changes in Live is a complete mystery to me! Because frankly, to do anything based on 3/8, including 6/8 and 12/8, is a PITA in Live.

Yeah, It is counting every quarter note only. This is a bummer because the vast majority of my music (traditional Zimbabwean trance music) is in 12/8. So I just need to tap in the 2 over three polyrhythm to get the right tempo. This seems like it would be a simple fix in the whole scheme of things. I think Ableton should consider this a BUG that needs to be addressed.
