I'm not able to find an answer how to update the program properly.
On my machine I installed my copy in "...\Live 8.2.1". I downloaded version 8.2.2 (program only).
Installer points me to folder "...\Live 8.2.2".
Can I just overwrite the old content? Or should I install to a new folder? What happens to the library?
This update process is a bit confusing I must admit...
How to update?
Re: How to update?
No need to be confused...
The default Ableton way is to install into a folder named with the version number, so that you can keep the previous
version for security or whatever.
You don't have to install it where they suggest.
My folder is just called "...\Live" and I always install the latest version over the top of the old.

Re: How to update?
Thanks for the info.
Only thing is that the program folder then contains Live 8.2.1.exe, Live 8.2.2.exe and so forth. Guess I can live with that. Though a nicer update management would be helpful (like an integrated updater).
