new to ableton - having trouble routing audio out of ableton
i'm somewhat new to ableton and i'm having trouble routing audio out through ableton into the soundcard and then out of the soundcard into an external mixer. when i choose external out in the audio or midi channel, i only see the option to use channel 1/2 rather than all channels (3/4, 5/6, and 7/8). in addition when i click configure, in preferences, i see exclamation points next to driver type, audio output device, and channel configuration. i do hear the master coming out of channel 1/2 but i wish to hear only 1 track for each channel rather than hearing the whole master track.
if anyone would like to help a newb, please respond.
thanks,
mike

Re: new to ableton - having trouble routing audio out of ableton
what soundcard are you using?
Re: new to ableton - having trouble routing audio out of ableton
i'm using the m-audio firewire 410. it has 4 sets of line outputs and 1 set of line inputs.

You need to enable the other stereo output in preferences. They are turned off by default to save cpu usage.
- Well... but no!
Re: new to ableton - having trouble routing audio out of ableton
ok i enabled the stereo outputs in ableton and now i can hear individual channels in my old pioneer djm 800. i'm now having trouble routing the mixer's output back into ableton. i have set up channel one in ableton as an audio track and now wish to record the pioneer's sound back into this channel to no avail. suggestions or tips on what i may be doing wrong?

Remebered to enable the stereo in?
If so you need to arm the track (i.e. push it's recording button) or switch monitor to IN instead of auto (or off).

duckpow - i've armed the track and switched the monitor to in. i thought that would enable the track. still see no levels and nothing will record.
