Making a vinyl stop effect

Post by snowmonkey » Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:30 am

Hi, I have been struggling with this. Sure there is a simple solution. I have a loop, and occasionally at the end of a bar I want it to sound like it is on vinyl and has been stopped. Then carries on at the start of the next bar. Any tips on how to do this?

Thanks,

Ed

if live only, i'd try o play with a simple delay in repitch mode.

There are a lot of different ways to approach this. In fact, there is even a YouTube tutorial in the Tips & Tricks section of the forum that describes a method using Sampler.

On pc you can download a vst called blue glitch. I like using it for quick glitching, I set turn tabletop to solo, and turn the vst On or Off whenever I want the effect

You can also use Tapestop (which sound like vynil stop too)

If you're a FL Studio user on Windows you also might have Image Line's GrossBeat VST which can do this.
