Hey forum,
I recently set up the midi connection from a Yamaha digital piano that I've had for maybe 7 years and have never connected it to my computer. I've noticed that when I arm a midi track for the piano input, the delay between hitting a key on the piano and the output of the track is unacceptably long (making it impossible to use in Live situations). Is there a solution to this, other than upgrading to a newer piano?
I have the most recent driver download.
Thanks!

Re: Delay between Digital Piano input and Ableton Output
Try ASIO drivers for your sound card (asio4all free download) or get an external audio interface.
What you are experiencing is called Latency. When you temporarily dedicate a sound device to Ableton, latency is dramatically reduced. Less processing other things and more processing focused on your instruments.
The piano itself should be fine. It shouldn't have to be replaced.
Best of luck

I had a feeling it wouldn't be the piano, but thanks for the advice! This is all still fairly new to me... but very cool!
