James Blake vocal effect? (Lindisfarne)

Post by tehJESSEH » Thu Mar 15, 2012 12:49 am

Hey guys,

I've tried searching for this specific effect, but I haven't come up with any solid answers. Specifically my question is whether or not Ableton 8 will be able to achieve this effect live.

Here's it live, it starts at 1:14:

I believe the final answer that people had was that he used a TC Helion Voicelive. Is this possible with Live 8?

Thanks!

You could approach similar effects with live's builtin vocoder plugin.
Take some strings (or alikes) as external carrier and on you go with funny voice play action.

Probably a combination of Vocoder as suggested above, and chorus maybe?

If you aren't familliar with how to make a vocoder work, I learned from this page years ago: http://sonictransfer.com/vocoder-tutori ... live.shtml

The concepts used on that page related to Orange Vocoder in Live, but the same theory can be applied to any vocoder.

In short, yes, Ableton Live should be able to get you this sound, in a live performance setting.
