Hi,
I have a registered copy of live running on a compaq notebook, athlon
2000, 512 Mg RAM.
The problem I have started last week, where everytime I open up
Ableton straight after booting the computer, there is a distortion on
any samples played within Live. The only way to fix this is to close
Live out, open up another DAW, play a few seconds of a track in that
(which plays perfectly) and the close it and reopen Live.
This is a very frustrating problem. I have run a few tests, and the
problems persists even when the VST folder is completely disabled and
there are no effects in the liveset at all. The distortion sounds
something like running the erosion or the resonator over the master.
It is only within Live that everything is distorting as midi outboard
plays perfectly and other applications too.
I am running Live 4.1
Anyone else have this problem???
thanks
bren.
Problem with live: distortion on all clips
I've had issues similar to this but I can't remember exactly how it was triggered. Iirc, it seemed to stem from multiple apps trying to access the soundcard at the same time. I have an RME and the built-in card on my motherboard (nvidia nforce 2). I have the built-in card set as the "windows default". I haven't noticed this behavior lately. The only thing I remember doing is turning off the windows sounds. You might try that.
control panel->sounds & audio devices->sounds: then pick "no sounds" under sound scheme.
It seems like Live might be missing some initialization call or something. It's like once the audio driver is "corrupt" Live is screwed until you open a program that'll reset it properly.

sounds like the problems i sometimes get with my Audigy soundcard - i think it's the drivers. i find going into options (in Live) and changing the drivers from ASIO to directX and back again quite often works.
