how to turn off bpm algorithm?

Post by m-laboratories.net » Mon Feb 10, 2003 7:00 pm

I want live to turn off its bpm guessing "warp" system, and simply cue the samples as they are. is this at all possible?

Hi,

I'm not sure if I understand right what you all mean.
But keep in mind that you can set the default way how Live should handle added clips in the Live's Preferences default tab. There you can set 'Loop / Warp' to "Unwarped One Shot" if you want to have this as default behaviour.

regards,
Alex

alex, you are right about that.BUT i think the problem is this:
if you drag a clip into the clip view and play it, it'll play just fine. But if I then change the clips properties from one-shot to loop, it will be warped to fit a certain way. It forces me to mess with the bpm. For some reason, somewhere around 145 bpm makes any recording sound close to its original rhythm.

im running version 2 on OSX by the way.

Right, BPM-guessing always sucks...

But using Re-Pitch and setting the BPM according to the BPM of the whole set (if the set runs at 85 BPM set the clip to 85 BPM too and choose Re-Pitch) seems to work fine (at least in 2.01).

I can't remember how this was in 1.5 or earlier. Hope that helps...
