Effect Insert?

Hello, can you place an FX Plug-In onto a track without it starting immediately in Live 1.5?

What do you mean"without it starting immediately"........

You could record the wet/dry mix of the effect in real-time.

If that is what you mean....?

What I want is basically a "dry" insert, i.e. the audio signal will not be altered when I insert the effect, only after I start fiddling with it. I am not sure if recording a dry automation would help me with this, because if want to automate an effect's parameters I will have to insert the effect first, won't I ? I know that I can use the sends, but is there no way to do this directly?
