1.5 record audio weirdness

I have assigned a keyboard sustain pedal to send a controller value (with a Peavey 1600x) so that I can record audio into Live (and also another pedal to that track's "stop clip" button to stop the recording). I have global quant. set to one bar. Sometimes when I record with the pedal it creates an uneven bar - sometimes very, very short as if i had double clicked the pedal, and sometimes maybe one fraction of a beat short of 8 bars, for instance. My understanding is that with quant. on this should never happen - it should always create an even number of bars. Could this be a bug?

i have now found that it has nothing to do with the pedals. this behavior happens when i simply click to record.

any one else?
