Seems if i change the sample rate within live the quality improves ? Theres definitely a big quality difference when compared to playing the same file in itunes. Didn't notice so much at first, thought somethings not right so then compare them and way different ?

No, the tracks warp button was on, turning it off improved the sound hugely. warp was in complex mode but master tempo set the same as the track so no stretching involved at all. Why the really poor sound quality with the warp button on ?

I add again that the problem only seems to exist at 44.1..... at 48, 96 the problem doesnt seem to be there

The only way you will get it to play back exactly as original is to make sure the tempo matches the original track exactly and then make sure there are no warp markers (after the first one) in the clip view. Even then, as a last precaution, you should not use complex mode. For same tempo playback, use beats or textures mode which other users have tested do not affect the sound at original tempo. Users have said that complex still affects the sound a little bit even with no warp markers. Do a search about this stuff. There's plenty written about it on the forum here.

If the original track was 125.2 or something and your master tempo is set to 125, the file will be warped. It doesn't matter how how small the difference between the original tempo and the tempo of your Live set. If there are warp markers, the original track drifts slightly in tempo and is being warped. Then there will be some degradation due to warping. If you made the track with Live you should be able to get it to match exactly to the set tempo with no warp markers. If it's someone else's track (or especially from vinyl or a live band (!)) the chances are extremely small you will not need warp markers.

You must meet all these conditions to do it. If there are no yellow warp markers (except the first one) and you are using beats or textures warping, you should be able to get it to play back at original tempo with no sound degradation.

Also when you work at higher sample rates, warp markers will still affect the sound, but the warping engine has more information to work with, so your warping sound quality will improve. A sure advantage if you can afford the CPU and track hit.
