Hi ableton's community,
The new live 6 (updated from 5.2) is a true
hard crash'test soft !
Live quit immediately violently.
Since some days, live quit immediately, is somebody has this kind of problems.
In firts I thinked it was bugs with automation of ableton'plugs (reverb+delay)with my trigger finger, but it's crash with others reverbs like spacemaster (N.I Reaktor's ensemble). Perhaps it's probelm with new OSX.4
Please help me, it's incredible that soft is so bugged.
My config is powermac duocore 2ghz, 2go ram, motu's ultralite, m-audio O2+trigger finger, N.I kore. Macos X.4.8

well firstly it cannot be that 'bugged' as there are many people using it with no problems at all.

Secondly I would email the ableton support, sounds like there's something not right with your set up if that is happening.

first test is to rename (temporarily) your VST plugin folder
this way your plugins won't load, and this will enable you to check if the crashes are not caused by 3rd party plugins.

report here when you've done that, we'll try to help you.

Make sure you have Pro Application Support for Tiger installed from the Apple site.
I don't know if it will help with Live but it sure does with most other DAW's.

L6 crashes a lot for me as well, especially on large sets and I'm not using any 3rd party plugins. It's a lot less stable than L5. It tends to just vanish without any warning.

Hi

I just wanted to add my problems with crashes. I've experienced it with all types of plugs, both the internal Ableton plugs and with pluggo and reaktor. It seems as if it's when I load plugs in, while playing. If I load the plugs after pushing the stopbutton, or if I restart Live after the crash and recall my project from the undo history, then it works fine. It's only while I'm playing, Live 6 randomly crashes for me.

This happens on both my old G4, and my new intel-mac, so I suspect that it is a Live 6 software problem, given that this didn't happen to me on Live 5.2.2

I've also had numerous crashes since upgrading to version 6. Last night after working for many hours into the night and selecting collect all and save, live crashed.

After re-booting all current work was there and I tried collecting all to save again. Live crashed. This happened a total of 3 times and upon opening for the third time a window opened that read:

"apparently, the document was created by a more recent and incomplete, version of live than this"

This time all current work was missing. Original clips were there, but no recent automations.

Live has crashed half a dozen times today and sometimes takes several attempts to open.

and for me...
same crash i'v turn off the plugs, it's a major problem of Live 6... incredible
thanx to fix this bugs.
I've contakt with Ableton's support, but no response for the moment !

ok, back to finding what your problem is.

could you try that:
- VST folder renamed (which means the VST folder in Live's browser must appear empty)
- all midi and external devices disconnected

open Live.
does it crash as you described it? every time?

I'm just test a read of set on Live 6, without vst+usb devices
it's crash everytime !!!!!

Well, I'm also joining the crash team, yesterday I lost my mix after 330 measures, when trying to stop live and save my work, Live is not responding... Anyone with the same issue?

you can try deleting your preferences file.

i'm not a mac expert (by far).
any chance you can reinstall your system?
