When using VST plugins with their own edit windows, it would be good if the usual apple+W key combination closed them, rather than closing the entire set.

This seems to be a hierarchical problem (?)
of VST edit windows. As far as i know there
is no VST-host application where you can close this window with apple + w ......

You can use Apple+W in Cubase VST and in Girl, two VST hosts I have at hand. It's normal Mac behaviour.

That´s true: it works in Girl, but not in LOGIC.
i guess i´ll have to discuss the pro & contra
about this behaviour...

Live opens a so called floating window for the VST plugins, so does Logic. Floating windows always stay on top of all other open windows and can't be closed with apple+W, it's a Mac OS thing and has nothing to do with Live.

Right, then I guess my request is for Live to open plugin windows in proper windows rather than floating windows. This is what Cubase does and I find it much more useful.
But obviously a lot of people are now used to Live the way it is! Maybe it could be a preferences setting?
cheers,
