EXT sync button disappearing

Post by buzzcock » Sun Mar 16, 2008 1:03 pm

If I slave Ableton Live 7 to an instance of Augustus Loop with the EXT sync button (upper left corner), and later delete Augustus Loop, the EXT sync button disappears too.

And there's no way to get it back.

Or use the transport controls.

yeah they changed it in live 7

it only appears in the GUI if there is an active sync setting in the prefs. I guess when you delete the plug it goes inactive..

shouldn't it be OK if you disable the sync & ext before deleting the plug?

it is weak that it won't restore the transport though, if you forget..

You definitely need to disengage the EXT button before you remove Augustus Loop if you were using Augustus Loop as a clock source or Live freaks out.

It SHOULD just revert to normal operation, but it doesn't.

I can remember to do it this way, just seems silly that if you mess up, you totally lose conrtol of the whole set!

Indeed.. I guess the deal is, if you remove the clock source without disengaging EXT, Live doesn't know what the tempo should be..

This of course should get fixed in an update.

But also, it would be nice if when you disengage EXT sync, live would keep the current (synced) BPM instead of jumping back to the default set BPM. This way you could change clock masters on the fly without the tempo jumping all over the place.
