I think overall the breakpoint editing in Live 9 shows promise, but I would love to be able to reverse the behavior of the pseudo breakpoint that appear when you mouse over an envelope line. I would love to have an option in the preferences that enables the pseudo breakpoint by pressing shift instead of it appearing automatically by default. Just a toggle so that people who like the new way of doing it can continue enjoying this feature and people like me who rely heavily on breakpoints but have old habits can edit the way we did.

Just a thought.

Also, I can no longer easily grab sections of an envelope with a horizontal click + drag for copy and paste because moving near any vertical breakpoint line highlights it. Is there a modifier key that disables the mouseover auto selection of breakpoint lines? Can there be one of not? This has added considerable time and frustration to my workflow. Selecting automation for copying and pasting has become very difficult.

I see your problem. Solving problems like this happen to be my hobby and specialisation. I suggest the following:

1. Turn off the grid or adjust as you would normally, and zoom as required.

2. Use your computer's ◀► (arrow) keys to move Live's Insert Marker to the start of where you want to select from.

3. Press and hold ⇧ (shift) and then use the arrow keys to select either to the right or left. You can turn the grid on and off, and zoom in and out, in the middle of this without a problem; just make sure you press shift first when you continue selecting. If you are on a Mac you can even use arrow key scrolling* (vertical and horizontal of course) in the middle of this process. The computer assumes you want to carry on where you left off.

*explained in the tutorial Easy ways to control Live, Part 2: Lose the mouse.

4. If you want to go back and adjust the start point of the selection do the following. On a Mac you can use the methods explained in the article I just linked to, using the .xml script I made. You turn on KeyRemap mouse keys, move the cursor to where you want to go to, and do a shift drag by clicking N and then . to release it. If you don't have a Mac you will have to resort to the mouse.

Thanks! I'll try those workarounds.

I just realised you say you're on a Mac in your sig! Not very observant of me before.
